Last year, as I was contemplating turning thirty, I came up with a idea. A "crazy scheme", if you will. As the last year of my twenties was about to get underway, I decided I wanted to do more than just talk about having an intresting life. I was going to have an interesting life full of fun and silliness and adventure. I was going to have 365 adventures in 365 days.
And Rebecca's Big Adventure was born!
As a Backyard Adventurer, I don't white water raft or bungee jump, I don't eat snails or scorpions, and I've never been to Peru or even New York City. But I have posed for pictures with aliens outside a Walmart in New Mexico, I've fed ostriches out of a dustpan, and I've seen Ernest Hemingway's toilet. Now if that's not adventurous, I don't know what is.
Because some adventures are just more fun in the company of other like-minded (see: slightly sideways, zany, wacky) individuals, I assembled an eccentric cast of characters to act as Accomplices on my Missions. No matter who was involved, an unforgettable experience was had – and isn’t that the whole point of life?!
In the spirit of having adventures of all shapes and sizes, I:
Every day is an opportunity to do something memorable and they shouldn't just fly by, one indistinguishable from the next. We get the most out of life when we see how many firsts we can have, how many guilty pleasures we can indulge, and how many things we can try just to find out what happens when we do.
Life is made up of all kinds of experiences – and all those comical, special, crazy, and wild experiences make life one big adventure!
